BEVERLY HILLS PLASTIC SURGEONS

The Beverly Hills plastic surgeons at Sunset Cosmetic Surgery have been featured on Dr. 90210 and have also appeared on The Dr. Phil Show, The View, Entertainment Tonight, MTV, and the KTLA Morning News discussing cosmetic plastic surgery.

Both Drs. Yamini and Svehlak were invited to join the ranks of America’s Top Surgeons. Further, both surgeons are double Board certified, meaning they are board certified by both The American Board of Plastic Surgery and The American Board of Surgery.

Sunset Cosmetic Surgery emphasizes patient satisfaction, comfort and safety. The Beverly Hills plastic surgeons at Sunset Cosmetic Surgery specialize in both face and body work, including breast enlargements, uplifts and reductions as well as liposuction and liposelection, tummy tucks, body lifts, rhinoplasty, face lifts, fat grafting, ear enhancement, eyelid surgery, chin implants and brow lifts. Patients appreciate the practice’s emphasis on natural-looking results with less post-surgical recovery time, since many make their living in front of the camera.

Both of these Beverly Hills plastic surgeons are members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and have authored and co-authored numerous articles on the latest in plastic surgery techniques.

Dr. STEVEN SVEHLAK

Although Dr. Steven Svehlak is now a practicing Los Angeles plastic surgeon, he came from the small quiet town of Oxford, Connecticut. He attended the University of Connecticut, where he received a bachelor of science in biology. He received his medical degree at New York Medical College in 1994. While at medical school, he was introduced to many different areas of medicine, but ultimately chose surgery.

During his five years in general surgery residency at Stamford Hospital in Stamford, Connecticut, Dr. Svehlak was introduced to the art of plastic surgery. He was immediately intrigued with the field, as he found himself being able to work with patients directly and help them reach the image they desired. "Not only will I be able to restore beauty and function, but also improve a persons self-image and confidence." Dr. Svehlak sought further training, and completed an intense and highly competitive plastic surgery program at George Washington University in Washington, D.C in 2001. He learned the techniques of reconstructive surgery, including those applied in cancer, breast, and trauma surgeries. Dr. Svehlak gained additional training at Children's National Medical Center, in Washington, D.C., where he focused on facial reconstructive surgery, including cleft lip and palate. He also became quite experienced in treating many types of congenital hand deformities. In 2002, Dr. Steven Svehlak was offered an Advanced Aesthetic Fellowship with Dr. Richard Ellenbogen in Beverly Hills, California. Dr. Svehlak worked side by side with Dr. Ellenbogen, performing rhinoplasty, breast augmentations and reductions, liposuction, and facial surgery. He became very knowledgeable in the art of cosmetic surgery and developed a keen eye in aesthetics. Although Dr. Ellenbogen invited Dr. Svehlak to join his practice, Dr. Svehlak decided to open up a practice of his own Dr. Svehlak specializes in the short-scar facelift, brow lift, eyelid and ear surgery, fat grafting, lip and chin enhancement, nasal surgery, body contouring with liposuction and liposculpture, minimal incision natural breast augmentation, and breast reduction (both female and male). His practice as a Los Angeles plastic surgeon also includes skin cancer removal and reconstruction, reconstruction after mastectomy, and hand surgery.

Philosophy

Every year, thousands of people who want to feel and look their best seek the professional advice of a plastic surgeon. It may be to gain a competitive edge in the job market and advance their career. It may be to reduce the signs of aging and look more vibrant and youthful. It may be emotional to improve self-image and confidence.

The relationship you build with your surgeon begins with a consultation. During your consultation, I consider several factors most important:

1) I strive to create a comfortable non-pressured atmosphere in order to build a trusting doctor-patient relationship. This allows open communication of the patient's needs and concerns.

2) I believe each patient deserves a thorough discussion and thoughtful considerations of the results sought. The consultation is never "rushed" and every question is extremely important.

3) I make every effort to give each patient an accurate, realistic idea of what they can expect after surgery. When deciding on a treatment, more is not necessarily better. The end result should give the patient the desired effect with a very natural look that is not "over done". It should produce minimal discomfort and pain with minimal bruising and swelling, allow quick recovery, and leave minimal scars. I strive to have my patients enjoying regular activities and feeling good about them self soon after surgery.

4) Finally, I adhere to the highest standards of safety and to avoid complications throughout the surgical experience. Many of my patients have fast-paced careers and others are constantly in the public's eye. But, the common factor between all my patients is that they seek confidentiality and the ability to return to their lives immediately. Because of this, my practice recognizes the balance between surgery and real life.

Dr. DANIEL YAMINI

Dr. Daniel Yamini grew up in Westlake Village, a northern suburb of Los Angeles. As a highly motivated and accomplished student, he was honored as the valedictorian at the top-ranked Westlake High School. That distinction, among others, earned him a scholarship to Stanford University to pursue his undergraduate education in Biology and Psychology. While at Stanford, Dr. Yamini focused on merging the study of human biology as well as adult and child psychology. In fact, Dr. Yamini was a part-time instructor at the prestigious Stanford Bing School for Children to study child behavior and development.

Given his passion to understand human biology and behavior, Dr. Yamini entered medical school with the initial goals of pursuing psychiatry. However, soon after participating in surgical training, his new passion was discovered. At that point Dr. Yamini devoted himself to mastering the art of surgery. While attending the rigorous UCLA-Harbor Surgical training program, Dr. Yamini proved to be an outstanding clinician, surgeon, and scientific researcher. His six years of training afforded him command of a host of surgical disciplines including breast, open-heart, thoracic, vascular, and oncology surgery. In addition, he developed and honed his enthusiasm for plastic surgery under the supervision of the prestigious UCLA plastic surgical faculty.

Dr. Yamini was accepted to the Providence Hospital Plastic Surgery Program in Michigan. His training was led by the world-renowned Dr. Ian Thomas Jackson at the Craniofacial Institute. Dr. Jackson, who was the head of Plastic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic, is considered one of the true ‘Fathers’ of plastic surgery. Here, Dr. Yamini again proved to be highly skilled in the delicate art of plastic surgery. He further distinguished himself with numerous research projects, multiple scientific paper and many speaking engagements throughout the world. Dr. Yamini has been invited to present his work with cosmetic surgery at the premiere international cosmetic conference (ASAPS) the last three consecutive years. To achieve the epitome in cosmetic surgical training, Dr. Yamini pursued an advanced fellowship in facial, and body cosmetic surgery with one of the most experienced and renowned cosmetic surgeons in the world—Dr. Richard Ellenbogen. Although Dr. Ellenbogen invited Dr. Yamini to join him at his practice, Dr. Yamini decided to pursue a practice of his own with Dr. Svehlak.

His many years of training and experience have earned this Beverly Hills plastic surgeon the trust and confidence of many patients, and Dr. Yamini has earned the recognition as one of ‘America’s Top Surgeons’.

Philosophy

There are three cornerstones to my practice which I am proud of, and constantly try to nurture: patient satisfaction, comfort, and safety.

Patient Satisfaction

Because my practice focuses on cosmetic quality rather than quantity; I have the luxury to spend a great deal of time with each patient, developing a relationship of trust and respect. I like to listen carefully to my patient’s goals, desires, and expectations with cosmetic surgery. This allows me to fully educate my patients about their best options, and to come up with a mutual plan to achieve our objectives.

- My surgical and artistic approach is to achieve the most natural, rejuvenating, and aesthetically pleasing results without “changing” the essence of who you are.

- I will consider my goal accomplished only when my patients are totally satisfied with their results.

Patient Comfort

- Along with my colleagues, we have designed unique surgical and anesthesia techniques not just for optimal beauty and natural results, but also to cause the least patient discomfort. These techniques and approaches will all be discussed at the time of our consultation.

- We have been blessed with one of the friendliest, most supportive, and most attentive staff, both in the office and the operating room.

- Our personnel have tremendous professionalism and experience with cosmetic surgery and they are always available to answer your questions.

- I follow my patients very closely and frequently to ensure optimal healing and recovery; so you are always welcomed in our office. I also make myself available virtually 24/7 to address any of my patient concerns. If I am not in town, my partner Dr. Svehlak will attend very carefully to all my patients.

Patient Safety
- I have completed over eight years of surgical, plastic, and advanced cosmetic training and have performed over 4,000 procedures. Throughout this period I have always paid attention to every detail and have never compromised the safety of any of my patients.

- I am constantly optimizing our own techniques as well as incorporating new innovations that are beneficial to our patients.

- Our office and operating center follows a very strict and comprehensive federal guideline for safety and has always been accredited by the appropriate authorities (AAAASF).

- We use the most experienced board-certified anesthesiologists who have taken care of thousands of cosmetic patients.

For all these reasons, I am confident you will have a very positive experience with our office.

PROCEDURES

BREAST PROCEDURES

• Breast Augmentation

Sunset Cosmetic Surgery offers a variety of Los Angeles breast augmentation options for patients seeking breast enhancement and enlargement. Dr. Yamini and Dr. Svehlak take a great deal of time with each patient discussing the pros and cons of various implant placement options and incision locations to see which combination will suit their body and lifestyle best. Below are brief descriptions of each of our Los Angeles breast augmentation procedures, with links to before & after photos and further information.

• Submuscular Saline Implants (under the muscle)
• Dual Plane Implants
• Subglandular Saline Implants (over the muscle)
• Silicone Breast Implants

• Breast Augmentation + Lift

If patients have lost a significant amount of breast volume over time, implants can be used in conjunction with our breast lift procedure to increase breast size while re-shaping and re-positioning the breasts. We recommend our Breast Augmentation + Lift procedure if the loss of skin elasticity, gravity and other factors have affected the shape and firmness of your breasts AND you are seeking a slighly fuller bustline as part of your result. Patients who do want to add implants during their lift will enjoy the same perks as a breast lift (higher, firmer breasts) along with a fuller bustline and a more youthful breast contour.

• Breast Asymmetry Corrections
Correcting Asymmetrical Breasts.

Most women have slightly different-sized (asymmetrical) breasts. In cases where the difference in size is prnounced, correction is often desired. The best procedure will depend on several factors, including how you want to balance the breasts. You may want to augment (enlarge) the smaller breast to look like the larger one, or reduce the size of the larger breast to match the smaller one. Breast augmentation, scarless breast reduction and traditional breast reduction are widely performed procedures.

• Breast Lift

We recommend our Los Angeles breast lift procedure if the loss of skin elasticity, gravity and other factors such as weight loss, pregnancy and breast-feeding ultimately have affected the shape and firmness of your breasts. Patients who are satisfied with the size of their breasts can have a Los Angeles breast lift to raise and firm them, resulting in a more youthful breast contour. If patients have lost a significant amount of breast volume over time, implants can be used in conjunction with our Los Angeles breast lift procedure to increase breast size at the same time as the shape and position of the breasts are enhanced. To view photos of breast lifts with implants, please visit our pages for breast augmentation with lift.

• Breasts - Correction of Tubular/Tuberous Breasts

Tubular malformation of the breast comes in many forms. The condition known as tuberous breasts, or tubular breasts is where the breast is constricted at the base and many times has herniated tissue pushing against the areola causing it to bulge and enlarge. Patients will sometimes call theme "snoopy breasts," or "triangle breasts." They all tend to share certain common features, including:
• Small and tight breasts that looks abnormal.
• Abnormally narrow breast tissue base.
• Large areolae that are puffy and protrude.
• Breast are narrower from top to bottom with tight skin below the nipple.

• Breast Reduction

Am I a candidate for for traditional Beverly Hills breast reduction surgery?
- Women who have more glandular tissue than fat (this is often found in women with pendulous breasts or thin

- Women that have excessively large breasts (the scarless technique typically only provides 1-2 cups

reduction in size)
- Women who want to change the size and shape of their breasts
- Women with excessive sagging

Benefits of traditional breast reduction surgery:
- Reduction in pain of the back, neck and shoulders
- Improved posture
- Easier it is to find clothes you like and that fit
- Feel better about your body!
