Dr. Andres graduated in 1980 from Foothill High School in Tustin, ranked # 1 in a class of 570 students with a 4.0 GPA. He was a National Merit Scholarship finalist, and winner of the Bank of America Liberal Arts Scholarship. His aptitude for sciences led to a second place finish in the California State Science Fair.

Dr. Andres attended Princeton University, where he majored in Biology. He graduated from Princeton in 1984 with a 3.9 GPA, receiving Summa Cum Laude honors. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honor Society. During the summers, he was employed in the laboratory of Dr. Alan Gazzaniga, a prominent local cardiothoracic surgeon, and also worked at Disneyland.

After graduating from Princeton, Dr. Andres returned to Southern California, where he attended medical school at UCLA. He was exposed to numerous innovative and nationally recognized plastic surgeons during medical school, such as Malcolm Lesavoy, Harvey Zarem and Timothy Miller. These outstanding surgeons and teachers prompted Dr. Andres' fascination with plastic surgery. He graduated from UCLA in 1988 with a 3.95 GPA, and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He also was awarded the Victor Hall Scholarship as the top student in Physiology, and a merit scholarship for academic excellence.

Dr. Andres then completed six years of training in surgery at UCLA, including general and vascular surgery, pediatric surgery, chest surgery, trauma surgery, cancer surgery and plastic surgery. He completed a year as Chief Resident in 1993-1994. During his surgery residency, Dr. Andres performed research in the plastic surgery laboratory of Dr. William Shaw, and received the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation Research Fellowship award, one of four $ 30,000 grants awarded nationally each year. He also spent time assisting in the reconstructive surgeries for burned children at Shriner's Hospital in Los Angeles.

After completing general surgery training, Dr. Andres was selected to continue his training in plastic surgery at UCLA, one of the top three programs in the country. He received extensive experience in all facets of plastic surgery, including craniofacial, pediatric, microsurgery, oncologic, hand and aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery. He had the opportunity to learn from some of the top plastic surgeons in the world, including those that are the "Plastic Surgeons to the Stars" of Hollywood and Beverly Hills.

In 1996-1997, Dr. Andres and his growing family traveled to San Antonio, Texas to study Hand and Microsurgery at the renowned Hand Center of San Antonio under David Green, M.D. Following that year of wonderful experience, Dr. Andres returned home to Orange County to stay.

Dr. Andres has published articles and chapters in respected journals and textbooks, and has given numerous lectures at major conferences throughout the United States and Canada. The Practice

Dr. Andres' practice is devoted primarily to cosmetic surgery and to hand surgery, two areas of plastic surgery that are especially delicate and meticulous. Most surgical procedures are performed at the La Veta Surgery Center, an outstanding facility that provides the highest level of comfort and quality. Highly respected and experienced anesthesiologists care for every patient. In addition, Dr. Andres has staff privileges at other hospitals, including St. Joseph's Hospital and CHOC (Childrens Hospital of Orange County)

Your cosmetic surgery consultation, and the subsequent surgery itself, will be conducted with utmost respect for privacy and confidentiality. Dr. Andres will answer each and every question or concern you have, so that you will feel comfortable and at ease with your surgery. He will work with you to be sure that your appearance goals are realistic. Above all, Dr. Andres strives for a natural, youthful appearance, avoiding the overly "done " look that is all too common. Sometimes this mandates doing less rather than more, in order to preserve a natural "unoperated" appearance. Above all, Dr. Andres will provide unequaled professional attention to help you to obtain the appearance you want.

PROCEDURES

Body

Tummy Tuck: A tummy tuck is a major surgical procedure in which excess skin and fat are removed from the lower abdomen and the muscles of the abdomen wall are tightened. This procedure can drastically reduce the appearance of a protruding abdomen. The procedure is particularly helpful to women who, through multiple pregnancies have stretched their abdomen so far that it does not return to it's normal shape. A tummy tuck is also helpful for those who have lost a significant amount of weight but still possess loose, sagging skin. Tummy tucks are often performed in conjunction with liposuction.

Liposuction: Exercise and diet can help make you healthy, as well as help you look lean and muscular. For some individuals, however, it does not always remove those stubborn LFD's (localized fat deposits). Every individual's fat distribution and body shape is genetically determined. What this means is that often no amount of diet and exercise will remove these stubborn fat deposits. Even if the individual is at an adequate body weight, they will still posses areas of excess fat. Liposuction is a procedure that can remove fat and fat cells, thus sculpting the body and doing what diet and exercise alone could not. Liposuction is one of the most common cosmetic procedures performed in the United States today. However, even though liposuction is designed to remove fat, it does not replace or serve as a substitute for good diet and exercise.

Breast Augmentation: Breast Augmentation is a surgical procedure designed to increase the size and enhance the shape of one’s breasts. Not only can this procedure enhance your appearance, it can possibly help build your self-confidence and self esteem. Also as a result of the procedure, many women have found it easier to dress in certain styles of clothing. Women have different reasons for undergoing breast augmentation.

Breast Lift: As time passes, pregnancy, nursing, excessive weight loss and gravity have adverse effects on women's breasts causing them to lose their elasticity, firmness, and shape. This creates a sagging appearance. A breast lift is a procedure that corrects this condition using a combination of removing excess breast skin, tightening the skin. If desired, implants may be used to restore breasts to their natural shape and size.

Breast Reduction: Women with very large, sagging breasts tend to have neck, back and shoulder pain. Patients find breast reduction surgery to greatly benefit their life. Patients not only have relief from their symptoms but also the ability to exercise better, wear more fitting clothes and many have psychological benefits. Of all surgeries that plastic surgeons perform, breast reduction ranks among the highest in patient satisfaction. Patients of most any age may have breast reduction surgery, however, most surgeons recommend waiting until after breasts have fully developed.

Breast Reconstruction: Breast reconstruction has become one of the most rewarding surgical procedures performed today. Each year, many women become afflicted with breast cancer. Unfortunately for some, this disease leads to the removal of one or both breasts. However, advancements in breast reconstruction have allowed surgeons to actually recreate a breast that is almost identical in look and feel of a natural breast. This is accomplished through the use of breast implants and skin expansion or flap reconstruction techniques. Breast reconstruction can even be performed immediately after the breast removal, or mastectomy. This allows the woman to awaken from surgery and not see herself missing a breast. Not only can breast reconstruction help improve appearance; it has helped many women improve their quality of life and regain a sense of femininity. However this is a major surgical procedure, and there is a lot of information one needs to know before undergoing breast reconstruction. That is why it is important for a patient to discuss her options with Dr. Taleisnik.

Breast Asymmetry: Breast asymmetry is a condition where one breast is larger than the other. There are options on how to correct this condition. Breast implants can be used to augment one breast, making it similar to the other one. Breast reduction can be performed to reduce the larger of the two breasts. This involves removal of excess fat and skin. Either procedure results in breasts that are more similar in size. Correcting breast asymmetry has not only helped women improve upon their appearance, but it can also provide a boost to their self-esteem and self-confidence. The choice of which procedure to undergo to correct breast asymmetry is something you and Dr. Taleisnik will discuss. You and Dr. Taleisnik can also discuss these options in more detail, as well as gain a better understanding of breast augmentation and breast reduction, during a private consultation.

Breast Implant Revision: Each year, many women undergo breast augmentation. It has become one of the procedures most frequently performed on women today. There are various reasons why women choose to undergo this procedure, and likewise, there are various reasons women have for choosing to undergo breast implant revision. One of the main reasons is deflation of the breast implant. Then some women who feel the need to change the implants they have now and make their breasts smaller or larger than the previous surgery. Then there are those who were not happy with the original results of their first operation and would like to have breast implant revision to gain an appearance they can be happy with. Breast implant revision offers a solution to all of these women looking to re-do their breast augmentation. Be sure to discuss your reasons for wanting breast implant revision during your consultation with Dr. Taleisnik.

Gynecomastia (Male Breast Reduction): Gynecomastia is an enlargement of the male breasts. This condition is quite common and it affects as many as 40% of the male population. Gynecomastia may affect only one or both of the breasts. The majority of the cases have no known cause while the others might be related to the use of drugs or medical conditions. Gynecomastia can be caused by excessive glandular breast tissue, fat, or a combination of the two. For men who feel self-conscious about their over sized breasts, this procedure can help restore self-confidence and appearance.

Face

Facelift: The Facelift (rhytidectomy) is a surgical procedure designed to smooth the loose skin on your face and neck, and to reduce the most apparent signs of aging in the facial area, giving you a more youthful appearance. The procedure involves reducing the creases from the nose and mouth, the slacking jaw line and sagging jowls and fat deposits around the neck by removing excess fat and tightening underlying muscles, then redraping the skin on the face and neck. Although the procedure cannot stop the aging process, it can turn back the clock on your facial appearance, giving you a younger, fresher look, which can also have a positive effect on your self-confidence.

Blepharoplasty: Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery, can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence by removing the appearance of droopy or sagging eyelids. As people age the eyelid stretches, muscles weaken, and fat accumulates around the eyes, causing "bags", or excess skin to become prominent. During your consultation, Dr. Taleisnik will assess which of the four eyelids (top and bottom for both eyes) require surgery.

Endoscopic Forehead/Brow Lift: A forehead lift, or brow lift, is designed to reposition sagging eyebrows that can cause a person to look tired, sad or angry. Endoscopic Brow lift, or forehead lift, is the most common endoscopic procedure used by cosmetic surgeons. With this method, instead of the usual ear-to-ear incision, two or more tiny incisions, or "puncture type" incisions are made just at the hairline. The eyebrows are then repositioned to a higher level, resulting in a more relaxed, refreshed and youthful appearance.

Scars can be the result of injury or trauma, or from a surgical procedure. Scar revision is procedure designed to make scars less visible. There are various types of scars, such as keloid, hypertrophic, facial scars, and others. There are also many factors that affect the severity of scarring, including the size and depth of the wound, the blood supply to the area, the thickness and color of your skin, and the direction of the scar. For those that are bothered by the appearance of a scar, this procedure may offer a solution.

Now no scar can be completely removed, however their appearance can be improved upon, which allows them to be less obvious. This can be achieved through the application of certain medications, or through scar revision surgery.

Various techniques are used for scar revision surgery such as Z-plasty or W-plasty. Z-plasty is a surgical technique used to reposition a scar so that it more closely conforms to the natural lines and creases of the skin, where it will be less noticeable. It can also relieve the tension caused by contracture.

By consulting with Dr. Taleisnik, this allows a chance to evaluate your scar, explain the various scar revision techniques, and to explain your options.
